Force Majeure and other options

In excess of 150 countries have been impacted by this pandemic. Drastic measures have been implemented ranging from closure of country and state borders, country wide lock downs, social isolation and social distancing, limitations on domestic travel and business closures. As expected, these measures adversely impact upon business.

TVP Law is available to discuss any questions you may have about your contractual rights (force majeure) and any common law / statutory rights (frustration) that may be available to deal with the consequences of these mitigation measures and COVID-19.

Employers & Employees navigating COVID-19

Workplaces are being majorly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Both employers and employees no doubt have many questions about their obligations and rights during this difficult and uncertain time.

Such questions you may have:

Estate matters – Wills & Enduring Powers of Attorney

You may wish to consider your personal and financial affairs in this current period of uncertainty. That may include the need to put in place, or to up-date, your Will and other testamentary documents such as an Enduring Power of Attorney.

TVP Law is available to discuss those concerns you may be having and work with you to properly plan and manage your personal and financial affairs.

Commercial Lease

On 29 March 2020, the National Cabinet agreed to a moratorium on evictions over the next six months for commercial (and residential) tenancies in financial distress who are unable to meet their commitments due to the impact of COVID-19.

Commercial landlords and tenants alike ought to consider their obligations and rights under their leases during the current COVID-19 crisis, and in the context of the proposed moratorium on evictions.

Please contact TVP Law if you wish to discuss these matters in further detail.

JobKeeper Package

The Federal Government has today announced details on the JobKeeper Package in response to COVID-19.
